About

The Council of Teachers of Southeast Asian Languages (COTSEAL) was formed in 1984 as a professional interest group whose primary purpose is to promote the discipline of Southeast Asian language teaching at all levels. Methodology, materials development, research and applied linguistics focusing on the teaching and learning of Southeast Asian languages are concerns of the membership. COTSEAL membership is open to interested individuals from around the world who have a professional interest in the teaching of these languages. In July each year, COTSEAL sponsors the Conference on Southeast Asian Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics, which is usually held at the site of the Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute (SEASSI).
